A large part of what sets SMOA apart is through the one-of-a-kind research division, which produces original, scholarly research based on data collected by SMATONS around the world.
Made of highly proficient youth, SMOA’s research division is responsible for analyzing data found in SMOA sessions and along with other scholarly-level findings, adapt SMOA teaching styles, approaches, policies and procedures to best suit the interest of the youth SMOA serves. These findings will be published in a scholarly journal or through the SMOA-SMATON network. Additional research findings will be presented at SMOA conferences throughout the world. All work done through SMOA’s research division is original and absolutely scholarly. In addition to formulating papers, SMOA research staff will conduct experiments on various variables as well as formulate hypothesis, annotations, and consultations with experts in the field. Research is the progression of knowledge; transferring the unknown to the known, and having an individual research division is a key differentiating factor which sets SMOA apart from other organizations.
Major responsibilities of SMOA Researchers include, but are not limited to:
- The formulation of annotations based on scholarly literature
- Investigative interviews with experts in the field.
- Composition and formulation of a scholarly hypothesis.
- Composition and formulation of a scholarly product proposal, which will be vetted with higher SMOA management staff.
- Composition and formulation of scholarly-level papers including data.
- Data collection & corresponding analysis
- Presentation to research outlets
- Submission of findings in a scholarly manner to specialized outlets.
SMOA Research Division Members:
Researching the granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor in relation to cellular autophagy, drug-modulated immunosuppression and fluctuating tumor translation in to maximize oncolytic virus potency, safety and viability.
Researching the neutrino particle mass matrix and neutrino particle-matter interaction in relation to neutrino oscillation analysis, along with potential cyclotron adaptations to optimize neutrino particle-matter interactions.
Researching how poor sleep induces negative effects on the human body including worsened migraine headaches, worsened performance in school and work, and a worsened general health condition.
Researching the prevalence of sleep disruption in hospital patients and its associated environment causes and physiological consequences, along with potential solutions that mitigate the deleterious consequences and control the contributing factors of inpatient sleep deprivation.
