SMOA
Tutoring

SMOA is dedicated to providing the most effective and convenient form of tutoring possible.  Free online tutoring allows for us to ensure that all students have access to proper education and resources, while also remaining safe.  To ensure we have the best possible services, our tutors are all interviewed and supervised.

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR TUTORING

  1. The parent fills out tutoring form for each child (elementary or middle), giving us basic academic and personal information to provide a dynamic, engaging learning experience tailored specifically for each child.
  2. Our team of committed tutors will contact the parent, confirming their child's information and putting in them into contact with their assigned tutor.
  3. One of our enthusiastic, high-school tutors will contact you immediately to schedule the first tutoring session.

HOW WE've HANDLED THE PANDEMIC

At SMOA, safety is of paramount concern. We would still like to help our community while practicing necessary measures to keep both students and members healthy. While schools are closed, social interaction and ongoing learning is still critical for students. To help elementary and middle schoolers, SMOA is offering free tutoring and other interactive online events.  As high school students in Howard County, we have experience in youth-to-youth tutoring and enjoy helping our peers. Specifically, we are tutoring middle schoolers and elementary schoolers in Science, Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social Studies. Furthermore, we are conducting other events that include coding camps, group discussions,  and story time sessions.

Please note that SMOA strives to maintain a safe and enriching environment for all students. Our sessions follow the same rules as HCPSS schools, and all reading material is in accordance with county policy.
